Sheet metal looks nice on the car! Hopefully it doesn't need floors from the weeds growing around it. I'm with the others, leave the 440 in the car (or go HEMI). You may find a "correct" date code 383 for the car, but it still wouldn't be "Original". Drive it like you stole it! You'll find most...
I ran 4.10's in my 69 Dart (26" tall tire) for a couple years on the street. Yeah, it turned a lot of RPM while on the freeway or just driving around, but what the hell, car isn't going to get good gas mileage anyways. I'll put 4.10's in my RR when the time comes for gears.
If it is coded as a 383 car, it may have been a dealer swap, but if it came from the factory with a 440 I would think the VIN/fender tag would verify that. As many of us know, you could get almost ANYTHING in ANYTHING from Chrysler back in those days. My neighbor had a 426 HEMI 68 Belvedere...
Oh, the car won't be "done" in a month, it will just finally be in primer, paint underneath and jams, and a roller so I can finish the body work at home. He is doing all the welding and finishing of installing the panels. I'm going to fill, block sand, and prep for paint "top side" and interior...
I'm bored with waiting for other people to do stuff on my car, so I'm posting a picture of my original shifter ball. It won't fit (different thread pitch) the Hurst shifter I have so I'll put a classic white ball on the car. This will sit in my curio cabinet with other "trophies" of motorsports.
Thanks guys, In the end I'm going to do what makes me happy with the car. I do have a slight tick about doing irreversible things to the car since it is going to be done nice and want any possible future owner to be able to perform a "Restoration" on it without hindrances of what I have done...
Hi all, While I sit here with nothing to do as the body guy takes his sweet time, I'm seriously considering fiberglass bumpers for my 69 Roadrunner. Car color will be T5 Bronze Fire with a flat black Six Pack hood and I'm having a hard time finding pictures of 68/69 Roadrunners with body color...
Anything over 2 hours or $2000.00. Agreed.
Sometimes a deal that is "Too good to pass up", just isn't. Or, concessions have to be made to accept such a deal (which in this case I have done).
I am about 3 years ahead of this same curve. I had a bunch of guns that just sat around and did nothing. Decided to "Thin the heard" and kept what I actually use plus a couple that may come in useful for future events. However, I didn't have the Roadrunner yet, so my extra gun money went into...
Early, you are trouble. ;)
I don't have most of the car. What I have in my hands is done. I figured once I have the car all block sanded and body/filler work finished and it went back to him for paint I'd do the grille, polish the trim, pick up the seals and gaskets I need to put it all back...
My first love is the 68/69 Darts, and a clean 2 door post like this is a sweet find! I say build it as a HEMI post tribute car. Even though none were made.
Hi all, It's been a while since I posted and didn't want you to think I forgot about you (LOL).
My 69 RR HT project seems to keep getting pushed back. The body guy that is welding up floors, media blasting, priming, and putting color on the bottom and jams has pushed it out to October now...
