Yes, it makes a mess. I turned the battery upside down to let it drain for weeks before I could get around to it. Then cut the bottom out and start taking out in sections. The battery is molded (made) around all the plates and dividers. It takes a lot of time and effort to get it all cut out...
Not on my Road Runner but I run a tunnel ram with two 1050 Dominators on my Hemi on my Challenger. I stretched the hood opening 3", stretched the scoop and base 3" to match, raised the scoop 4-1/2" and enlarged the nostril openings 2-1/2" taller. Project super shaker. Painting it now.
I have done 3 like this now. Going on 6-10 years on each of them now (depending which one). Lasts much longer than the repro batteries. And less than half the price.
I have always painted mine duplicolor hemi orange. I don't like the two different oranges are between the engine and air cleaner lid. I know it's not correct but I like it better.
