That’s kind of what I thought. They seem real clean as they were when I got the car last year. I guess you have to drive it to get it dirty. I’m rebuilding the front suspension so once all done and tight it will ride much better. So we’ll see!
Looking for a really good shock for the 70 B-body that is firm with good ride quality. Whether the same all around or different front and rear. Currently I have KYB gas charged, but don’t know how old they are.
I finally got the rear main seal done, went better than expected. Put in the best one of the three i had, came from Roseville Moparts in Michigan.Of course a fresh gasket set on the oil pan and we are dry for now and happy!!
Not sure on the sitting for awhile and not leaking. Doing my rear main seal (383) today and would like to let the pan gaskets with the RTV applied set up before running it. Mine did not leak only until I ran it and then if I wiped it clean and it sat a bit it was dry at next start up. I think a...
Do you all have some input on moving the shifter(factory) to the floor from the column? Seems like their may be more to it than just getting the parts together. It’s the torqueflite in the 70RR. As it is now I have the split bench seats which would require a set of buckets instead, which may be a...
I never gave this a whole lot of thought till yesterdays ride down to the hot rod shop. I was on the freeway and smelled what seemed like electrical/plastic burning. I got to the shop and my mechanic took a look as well and no smell. He said it was well worth the cost of a fire extinguisher in...
Hey Russ! Good morning. Here’s a picture of the new one installed fuzzy side towards the engine. The other is the one with the finished side. I guess maybe this issue is whatever works is ok!
I have a hood insulation pad for the 70RR. Which if at all does the pad go on. Do I install with the fuzzy side towards the engine or the finished side. For some reason it looks better with the finished side exposed, but maybe it doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do that way. It’s the budget...
I backed out the adjusting bolts for the torsion ride height last night and went for a spin and to start prior to the adjustment i was at 26" both sides at the floor to top lip of each fender well. After the ride they are at 25" each, just right! The odd part is the bolts are backed out at...
Yes sir! I’m aware of those torsion bar adjusters. Here’s the deal. Right when I got the car I could stand straight back away from the backend and on level ground see a slight lean to the driver’s side. So advice from the forum suggested that I crank up the drivers side torsion bar adjustment...
Just went out and fired her up and when i opened the door and sat down as usual to start her with the door open(love that sound)! I always notice the alternator gauge moving +or- and when i shut down the gauge was pegged completly -. Best trouble shooting ideas would be helpful....Thanks in advance!
I have the front end ride height on the 70rr from ground to center lip of the front fender set at 25-3/4". In theory would i have to adjust the lower control arm adjusting bolts down to the desired ride height which might be 1" lower? Does cranking that bolt outward have to move that far to get...
Oh no worries...besides if going to put the shifter on the floor why not drop the 727 and put in a manual! No matter which way,it won't go faster. I was looking at it as not horribly costly, but with these old cars come many dollars spent and many cans of worms.
Can the section of the column where the prnd21 resides be removed and or replaced with say the cover that would be on an actual console auto or a 4spd?
Good Morning from Tucson!
Have you guys any recomendations for bringing the 3spd auto shifter from the steering columnn down to the floor? My 70 has the factory shift on the tree and factory split bench seats. Any ideas on the shifter brand and general prep for the swap? I've seen the B&M &...
I have an update on the carb...its a Holley 750CFM/CAV sec/square elec.choke if that helps.
She's pretty cold blooded on the start, but setting the pedal 1-2 times and she fires right off but sounds like it has a much bigger cam than the stock 440 cam they put in these.
Installed the anti-rattle plates last night and tried to figure the likely placement for these rubber band looking things and I must have installed them right because rattle gone…Now I can concentrate on that damn radio
Thanks everybody!!!
