Well of course another issue. Guages do not work and the fuse is blown to the "instrument" circuit. Checked the circuit and it has a 4 Ohm short. Took the shifter out and seat to get my big ass under the dash to try and find the problem. This is the reason I removed the dash and checked out as...
I've got a copy of the service manual, just wanted some feedback on how hard or easy the seal was to replace. Thanks for your input, was hoping that removing the cover would reveal the seal. Don't know until I drop the tranny if a speedy sleeve would be needed, but hopefully not. I just want to...
It's coming out the front. Looks like there is a seal (by the old manual I have) and the diagram is so small I can't tell if it's an O ring or what. Yeah, I know it has to come out, but just didn't know how hard it was to replace. Maybe the front cover just unbolts and it's behind it?
Just want ideas on how hard or how much it will cost me to fix a tranny leak. Got the 68 RR running and supposedly got a rebuilt A-833 with the car, but even at an idle, pukes out a 6 or 8 inch puddle within a few minutes out the front of the tranny. Guess they have a seal of some sorts in...
Yep John, I'll be calling you soon. I'm gonna wait a week or two and deal with other projects before I get back on the runner. Will need a few things replaced. Hell, I might even get to drive it this year!
Thanks guys, and Bob, I'll check out the dimensions given on Brewers site and see what I have. Another issue cropped up as well. Finally got a good carb on and let the engine run for around 10 minutes. Looked and have oil coming out of the front seal of the 833. So much for a "rebuilt" tranny...
Does anyone have a part number or photo for the Z bar I should have on my 68 RR/383? One problem after another after getting so close to done. Looks like the Z bar I used or the clutch fork is incorrect, for they don't line up (aprox 1 inch off) and have issues with clearance. I did go with 2...
Thanks John, another issue I have is that the tranny mount is not the right one. It looked like the correct one, but is not wide enough to match the holes in the crossmember (I'm assuming it is for an A body???). I might use it temporarily and just drill a couple of holes in the crossmember...
Got the new tires in yesterday, mounted and placed on the car, then today got a little help to get the engine mated with the tranny and slid into the car. Gonna be a busy day tomorrow. Have a 1 inch spacer on the 750 Holley, and looks to be real close to the hood. Anyone else running a spacer...
Called Brewers Performance first thing this morning, they are shipping me the correct bearing. In this case the bearing will fit the larger hole in the crank, and depending on what year the crankshaft is, I might need to shorten the tranny shaft, but there is a chance the pilot hole is drilled...
Oh the drama never ends. Looks like the short block I got with my 68 roadrunner will not accept the pilot shaft bushing. Probably was an automatic engine from the factory? You guys are the experts, so tell me what I should do. Do I shop around for a pilot shaft bushing that will match the crank...
My first car was a '69 Bronze metallic coronet 440 2 dr. Love the color, can't wait to see your project going along and be sure to post some photos. There are lots of guys that live for them!
:jester:
My mechanic Jim setting the timing on the 383. I put the Holley 750 on it and had several leaks to deal with. Ended up disconnecting the secondary feed just to get the engine running. Will deal with that later.
