My '71 rr 383 fuel pump suddenly started leaking ~ 2 weeks ago on a cold start. I turned off the car and inspected it, hoses are fine. Turned car back on then leak fixed itself. It's been this way for a few runs - leaks at cold startup then stops leaking after I turn car off, wait a few then...
No more click? Nothing now? I recently bought a '71 rr 4 speed that would intermediately not start - cold or hot - NO CLICK - NOTHING, then it would suddenly start (scary but never left me stranded). It is either the clutch interlock switch (under the dash attached to the pedal linkage) or in my...
Looking for good quality online stores for Mopar parts. I need some engine parts - distributor cap, rotor, points, condenser, and fuel pump for now. I want the tan distributor cap (w/ brass contacts) along with brass contacts on rotor (don't care about rotor color). Not real concerned about OEM...
Maybe the genius Wile E. Coyote did this? I might recall seeing seen some Acme explosives but was in shock at the time... Biggest concerns are not the glass, but the chrome trim AND the paint job!
Last Sat on a beautiful New England day while stopped at a traffic light in downtown Holden, MA I heard a bang then a crack - my rear window exploded! Nothing could have fallen from above (no trees, etc.) either a passing car (muscle car hater threw something?) or just a freak thing. Has this...
Thanks, are the inner support plates for bucket seats welded to the top (inside) floor or welded underneath the floor (bottom) or just placed? Where can I but some? I met a guy last weekend converting a '70 from bench to buckets and he had plates he planned to weld to the inside floor (I was...
After removing my driver side front bucket seat to remove the instrument cluster I noticed that the outboard seat holes go through a frame underneath each side BUT the inner holes (near the floor hump) do not have any supporting sheet metal, just holes. Was this an original bench seat car? Also...
I have an antenna mounted on the RF fender but the coax wire is coiled up inside the fender and I checked with a mirror but do not see any hole to bring it inside the car through the kick panel. Can anyone please send a pic with the passenger door open showing where the antenna cable enters? Thanks!
No idea about the history. I purchased this car recently from a private collector (~30 Mopars!). He owned it for 13 years and bought it from a dealer in Texas in 2007 and only put ~ 1000 miles on it. Unfortunately NO documentation or repair history whatsoever but has a fender tag and the #s...
Me too but the problem is that under the dash where the column attaches via the 2 studs, 1 bolt through breakaway washers it is way off center (see pics in/out):
Pulled OUT toward driver stud is stationery (still not close to center) this is how it was and breakaway washers were destroyed...
Sorry forgot pics - What is the piece in between the shaft (marked with blue tape w/ arrow moves in/out) and the steering box? I would prefer to have the shaft pulled out of this piece (towards the driver) so that the 3 column fasteners are better centered in the plastic breakaway washers but...
I dropped the steering column to remove the instrument cluster at which time found that only the 2 nuts on the studs were securing the column (3rd lower bolt missing) and that they were not centered in the rectangular breakaway plastic washers, were towards the steering wheel end (and breakaways...
I checked the continuity of the tac wire from the back of cluster to the negative terminal on the coil with a DMM it is fine. Sent an e-mail to the tach man, he tested and verified calibration OK: I just want to know if this is just the way these original tacs were... Wiring is pretty much...
I recently bought a '71 rr (383 original points ignition) with a broken tachometer (stuck on 2000) and sent the entire cluster to Gary the Tachman in S.C for repair and calibration. I installed it yesterday and although the tac works, it is slow to respond when increasing and decreasing RPMs...
Does a 1971 383 have flat tappet cams? I just bought my car doing first oil change now and wen with Car Quest High Mileage 10W 40 and a K & N oil filter. I think it's more important how often you change your oil than what brand you use...
Please help - I recently pulled the instrument cluster out of my '71 road runner (tac broken) and found that I was missing 5 out of 6 sheet metal screws. Anyone know where I can buy OEM instrument cluster fastener screws?
P.S It was tricky to figure out how to detach the heater control unit, I...
Please help - in the process of replacing leaky valve cover gaskets I discovered that 8 of 12 bolts appear to be correct OEM w/ captive washer but 4 were different type (not correct no captive washer and head markings different). Then I started to research and found a kit on e-bay that has 8...
