    if you ground the gas gauge it will always read empty. the sending unit provides the ground and the variable resistance you get when the float moves up and down relates to the movement on the gauge. so no, do not ground the one terminal on the gauge.

    well 32 years ago when i was working on small airplanes, there was plenty of lead still in 100 LL avgas. i used to run it in my first road runner when i had to take care of the fuel trucks. would have to drain off about 10 gallons a day to make sure there wasn't any water and it went right...
