Re: Low end not there but 326 hp and 438 tq at the rear whee
I can't tell from your first post what the cam overlap is but I would suspect that is part of the problem. My 383 behaved in exactly the same way and I believe it was a combination of too big a cam and very low compression. My sense...
Steve,
If you have a 2-speed motor, I have one in the garage that I won't use because I had to put a 3-speed motor in when I put in the hemi. It looks new and worked fine when I pulled it out. I don't know what it's worth put I'll give you a deal.
Jack
Bob,
That's a good article and a good find. I love articles like that. I am a scientist and usually skeptical of everything but I must admit I bought into the low ZDDP idea. This was especially true when my engine's cam shot craps right after startup. I did not see who put it together or...
I am rusty at this but I think I recall that if you can get a nut to grab at least the diameter of the bolt/stud you will have sufficient clamping power. Maybe someone else on the forum is more up or knowledgeable about this. If you have 17 mm of thread engagement that is 0.68 in. I don't...
"The other style is a multi-lever design sometimes referred to as a diaphram style. Stay away from those!"
Why would say to say away from a diaphram clutch? There have been plenty in use with no issues that I'm aware of.
I went with a McLeod diaphram clutch when I did my hemi install on...
I was done with Comp Cams when I called for help with cam selection long before I got the engine. I talked to several guys over a period of time and they all had a different recommendation. None gave me the idea they knew what they were talking about. They just answered the phone and sold...
While we are on this topic I wondered if anyone knew whether the zinc is needed only for break-in of hydraulic cams or is it needed for everyday use as well. I was under the impression that it was only needed for the break-in run.
By the way my hemi wiped out a cam the first time on the dyno...
I had one instance where a plastic alignment tool had a little too much play and the pilot shaft of the trans hung up for the last half inch or so. We had the engine out so we used a prybar to move the clutch fork enough to disengage the clutch while two of us pushed the trans into place. Your...
How do you like Florida, I think it would be too hot for me. Think I am staying right here for the time being. That piece is for any tall manifold including rb enigines I think. I know Mancini sells it.
No worries. Good luck
For what it's worth I just had my hood painted and the mixture is listed below.
PPG/Autocolor paint line
-PX8 Black
-P190-6100 Clearcoat w/ P565-554 Flatening Agent,(Matt Finish) w/P210-6285 Hardner
I don't know how authentic it is but it looks pretty good to me.
I kept the 8 3/4 with 3.23:1 gears in my runner when I did the hemi conversion. I have had no problems at all but I really haven't abused it too much either. The engine has about 600 hp and 600 ft-lbs at the crank. We measured around 460 hp and over 500 ft-lbs at the rear wheels. I didn't do...
I just went through this myself. I think what you have is the timer for the ignition light. If I recall the 4 way flasher should be in the same vicinity. The turn signal flasher is to the left of the steering column. The part is available from any store.
I will look at my car today and let...
