if you you go to harbor fright they have a multi-meter that has a temp probe put that in the rad cap opening and see the temp of the coolant .
last time i bought one it was 20 buck's

then take the rad out and fill with rust remover bath fill thru the lower hose to fill the top of tank let sit for an hour or...
what this is to me the e p a wants to stop ANY MOD to all cars so if you have a 69 runner you need a p.c.v valve and a breather and meet emission spec for 1969 if you have a 1973 runner well now you have vapor canister and e.g.r and meet the spec for that year if not they will make trouble.
i just went thru this check if there is junk in the top of the rad tubes lower the fluid level and see if you see rust flakes in the top of the tube. so i spent 900 on a griffin as the champion did not cool as much as i wanted. i installed a coolant filter and the stuff i cought with the filter...
they all seam to be the same junk the 2 i bought did not work took the 2 to make 1 and kind of worked some time . so the tank inc is a tank for fuel injection but could be made to work with stock set up .
