I'm not talking about A12 cars. Did Ma Mopar go by calendar year...if so, were build date of july only 69.5? My car was built in March of 69.

Back in the 60s all new cars came out around September except for a few like the mustang, that would make a march car a mid year build. 69.5 is a reference to the A12 but there were some new colors introduced in the spring making them a bit more rare.

I agree with Bob. In general terms, 69.5 isn't used except in conjunction with the A12 cars. It has to do simply with the point of introduction. Same as a 64.5 Mustang or a 70.5 Camaro.

The High Impact colors were introduced on the A12s, and then made available across the board.

they would actually shut down the lines about august to retool for new models. it was a big deal when the new models came out. each manufacturer would try to keep them a secret until the reveal day. I can remember going to all the dealerships to see the new models with my dad. back then you could tell the difference between companies unlike today. for a while my dad was a car salesman and I remember hiding a 63 t-bird in our garage till reveal day. kind of miss those days with the excitement about the cars.
