President Obama today issued this release from his vacation villa in Hawaii, concerning the attempt by Nigerian Islamic Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, to destroy a plane landing at Detroit airfield:
"The nation should not rush to judgment that Mr. Abdulmutallab is a terrorist and intended to commit a terrorist act. After speaking with Mr. Abdulmutallab's Imam, and my all knowing Director of Homeland Security, it is my understanding that Umar may not have understood the 'no smoking' rules on the aircraft and attempted to light up as the plane was preparing to land. Mrs. Napolitano has informed me that Mr. Abdulmutallab, does not fit the profile of a terrorist as he is not known to have attended a 'Tea Party,' has never worked for Fox News and is not a former police officer. I have directed a full investigation into the incident and if any information is developed that Abdulmutallab has any association with Fox News, or radical extremist talk radio, he will be prosecuted as a terrorist..."
In any event, there is no doubt that Mr. Abdulmutallab acted stupidly, so when the investigation is complete, I will invite him to the White House to share beers with the passengers that were upset and angered by his actions."
