Hey guys, what temp should I be running at? It gets up to about 210 to 212 after a while. What is optimum and how would I change it if I had to lower the temp?

Thankfully we did a lot of suspension mods and the 4 wheel disc brakes, I can only imagine what it would be like without them. I think I'll be paying Jamie Passon a visit, she is screaming for a 5th gear.

Interior looks great, seats are comfy. I need to get used to "old school" clutch and 4 speed. But, I didn't stall her once.

Thanks

John

engine new.....will run warm to hot but after that is broke in should be 180 all day
do you have a 1/8 inch hole drilled into thermostat....this gets rid of air in the system
i did all the electric fans/water pump and now back to stock mp water pump/shroud/flex fan and a 4 core be cool aluminum radiator......180 all day

George, did you not have any luck with electric fans? Never heard of drilling 1/8 hole in thermostat. Should I do it?

Thanks,

John

The hole in the t-stat does help. In the past I tried push fans pull fans dual fans and some have luck with them, but it seems that I always end up with a shroud and a fixed or clutch fan on the water pump

:yeathat: :yeathat: :yeathat: :yeathat: :yeathat: :yeathat: ......stone age works....all i could think was horsepower with electric fans/pump.....mechanical works great
thermostat does help get the air out of system....and when you fill radiator always jack up car on fill side and watch air bubbles in radiator.....when she is full and air is gone

I had an electric fan on my car for a while and I finally took it out. I had set it to turn on at 160 but even though my temp gauges showed the temp to be 200 plus, that fan never turned on, except on a rare occasion where it might run for a second or 2 right after I shut it off. So I at least knew it did have power to it. I never understood why it never turned on when it was running and hot enough for it too.

Were both temperature sensors in the same area of the block? If different you may never have seen the higher temps at the fan sensor.

No Jack. The directions for that fan called for the sensor to be place in between the cooling fins at the top, center of the radiator.
