John,

I hate to say this, but I think you got the wrong oil pan. I got that one first, and its too low for a Roadrunner. Bounce the car a little and it will hit. I got the first one from Summit Racing and called them and told them it wouldn't work. They sent me the correct one along with a shipping tag to return the first one. The correct one looks just like your old one, but the pan is just a little deeper but looks almost identical.

Good luck
Barry

Barry, thanks for the advice. I know we ordered the "low clearance" pan, but if you think it's wrong I'll certainly check it out. Do you happen to know the Milidon pan part # so I can check it against what I have.

Thanks again,

John

Thanks so much. I know I've been like a new puppy pissing all over the place, but the advice on this board has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you all. Everything is going as planned. Body guy is doing an amazing job fixing all the rust, etc. She's gonna be an amazing machine when she's done.

Best,

J

Let me see if I can find the number, but I might be able to call Summit Racing to see if they have my history and get the number.

This is the oil pan I used for my 383. Its a six quart Milodon and it has the same shape as the original oil pan. I sent the one you have back and they sent me this one part number 30761 in case the link doesn't come out.

Barry

Thanks Barry. The one you suggest is 5 inch depth and the one I have is 7 inches. The problem is that the one I have is a kit which includes the pickup, windage tray, pump shaft, etc. Do you really think the 2" difference will hit? Can I get the one you suggest as a kit with windage tray, etc.?

Thanks, John

The Milodon low profile pans aren't too bad if the car is close to stock ride height and has the proper torsion bars and good shocks. I have run the real deep Moroso pan on my Swinger and I hit it 3 times and finally gave up and replaced it with a stock pan and pick up with a HV pump. Big mistake, I spun a rod bearing going across the stripe at Vegas a few weeks later. Pumped all the oil up top and none left for the rod bearings. If you change the pan and pick up the rest will be the same. On one of my Runners I built a low pro milodon like you bought and I built a skid plate for it and I hit a few times and it worked perfectly, no real damage.

Engine builder just emailed me, he ordered the Milidon 5"/6 quart and is sending back the 7"/7 quart pan. I'll feel better knowing it's not gonna hit bottom.

Thanks,

John
