Took the Runner home today for good. Gary did a nice job, thank you for your effort. A few small issues: gas guage not accurate, speedo reads high, also seems to bog a bit at 3,000 RPM. She just ran about 35 miles on the highway and got as high as 210 degrees. I think we have an issue with one of the fuel tank vent tubes. A buddy was following me and said when I hit the brakes gasoline comes out. Small puddle below the driver side shock absorber in the rear. Doesn't leak while driving or when sitting. We filled the gas tank way up so maybe it's coming out a tube when I hit brakes?? Any thoughts?

Had carb adjusted, the floats were dumping gas into her. I'm thinking I may need to put some fresh plugs in her as they may have gotten fouled. A little more tweaking here and there. A mechanic buddy of mine that did some of the work said "these cars are like hot chicks, they are really fun and great to look at, but they are high maintenance." LOL

Also, the evaporator from Classic Auto Air was leaking so we had to tear that out and send back for warranty repair... When does the fun start???? LOL.

might want to try switching the 2 vent tubes at the tank. one vents from the front while the other vents from the rear. nice looking car!!!

Congrats John. Run the tank down a little and see if it stops

Thanks very much, I was thinking that maybe that was it too; filled it too much. But by the time we got home I'm sure she burned 3 gallons, assuming 10 MPG; but I have no clue.

Gonna get her on jack stands this weekend and take a look under there.

Question: during the 30 mile trip, most of which was at 3,000 to 3,500 rpm's, she got up to 210 degrees at her hottest. What do you think?

Thanks,

J

Now that I've done a bit of research on this and have seen pictures of what the short and long vent tubes look like inside the tank; I understand your suggestion now. It may be that the short internal vent tube is connected to the short external tube which would easily allow it to leak. Thanks, I'm going to check it out this weekend.
