Got the hood set on and every thing looks fine. Till I checked to put the striker on the hood for the latch to catch it. Now it is not long enough. Has any one run in to this problem. Did not change a thing but a new hood. Measured every thing on the old hood just don't see what happened. If any one has an answer to fix the problem would love to here it. Russ. :thumbsup2:

On my buddy’s road runner he put an after market hood on it and we had to move the strike over and install new threaded rivets, it appeared they drilled the threads in the wrong location. The hood had marks were it was supposed to go. We moved it over and all is good.

Thanks 1968 man. Yep this is the hood I got the second time with the second hole already drilled and taped. Just to say going tomorrow and get a piece of rod and get new gas for my torch set. Going to make my own not fooling around with this thing any more. Pretty bad every thing worked fine with the old hood. The striker is not long enough and not far back enough for it to fit the latch. So will make one and heat treat it my self and it will be better than new. Thanks for the info cant do any thing with the hood so will make that striker. It has pissed me off I skinned my paint job a little on the upper cowl where the hood sit down not bad but it is skinned. Guess that is what happens when you get into a hurry looking at the lines and trying to a line every thing and cant see every thing. So now have to touch up that area and fix this thing. Darn It any how. :thumbsup2:

Hey Russ I took some pictures today of my buddy’s hood latch. You can see in the pictures what we had to do. We drilled and put in what they call nutserts.EB4C39A8-1F5D-40E7-BB20-05383B636AB1.jpegD38BD5B7-59E8-45FF-8C5A-54BE2F0B7D51.jpeg

There should be pre made holes on the hood skin but not through both layers if that makes sense. That’s what we ran across installing the latches.

Yes that is the way mine look's. But that inside hole is not going to work. The striker is not long enough or dose not go far enough back. So got the torch gas today and some rod and will attempt to make one that will work. Thanks for the pic's.
