Just joining this forum to learn more details about the '68-'70 Road Runners. I've always wanted a '69, so I want to learn what to look for while searching for one. I've always been a Chevy guy at heart and currently have an original, numbers matching '71 Monte Carlo SS454 with 30Kmi and a '69 Camaro that I'm building as a Pro Tourer with an LS3/T56.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. Looking forward to reading through the forums and getting advice from you pros. :smile-new:

Here are a couple pics of my Monte and Camaro. The Monte has had one respray but otherwise it's original. The Camaro started life as a Frost Green base model with a 327 and a Powerglide. It currently has a 350 GM crate engine and a Muncie 4spd, but the LS3/T56/12 bolt are sitting behind it in the garage waiting for me to get time to install them...

That sounds like my SS, at least as far as the gas goes. At least gas hadn't gone through the roof yet in 1982. The first car I ever bought was a '71 Monte back in '79. I liked cars but had never worked on them, and I got my first taste of auto mechanics hot rodding that car at the gas station where I worked during college. The nicest part about the Monte is how much room there is under the hood. When a friend and I decided to take on our first major mechanical challenge and swap in a Corvette 327/350 cam we were able to pull the fan and the shroud and literally sit on the front sway bar while we worked. :tennis: It was a great car and I eventually donated it to a high school auto shop class when the rust around the rear fenders was more than I wanted to deal with. Fast forward 20yrs later and I was finally able to find and afford my '71 SS454.
