Lost Power Assist

My power steering (assist) decided to give it up earlier today. No leaks, no ruptured hoses or damaged fittings, belt in good condition, pump not squealing, fluid level appears normal, etc. ?????
What has gone away....there was no sign of imminent trouble ahead.

Sounds like the pump gave out. Take the pressure hose off at the gear box and stick it into a bucket. Then crank the engine over after you disable the ignition. If you have no flow, change the pump.
