...my car is for sale. Gave it much thought, but I need something I can tool around in with the family. This car is a monster and I've got some other stuff in mind.
So, I posted my car on craigslist, priced it between a number 3 and 2 car (mid 20's). Guy came today to look at it. Said I was way off base, didn't want to hurt my feelings, and showed me his price guide. Problem was his price guide was from 2007. Thank goodness for wireless internet, got out the laptop and showed him some modern values. He stared blank at the screen for a long minute, and then went into a dissertation on how he doesn't understand why mopars are worth so much money. When he was a kid they were taxicabs, etc. I guess he won't buy the car.

Sorry to hear that Sam, but you gotta do what ya gotta do. People don't realize there were probably a 1/4 as many runners to chevelles produced and parts cost more.

That's too bad Sam. With a family i can understand why you feel you need to sell it. You said that you have something else in mind, what would that be? That guy sounds like another one who wants a muscle car but doesn't want to pay for it. Who knows, maybe all he wants to do is flip it. Hope you'll at least stick around.

That is one of the worst parts of selling a car. Dealing with the people that expect some thing for nothing. Have a price in mind and stick to it. If someone makes a lower offer, just smile and say no thanks. :cents:

No, the Prius stays. My payments are done in December which is always nice. I gotta drain the batteries on it first.

Nothing really going on in the household that is pushing the sale, I've just come to realize that I want a convertible. I don't have the loot for a #2 or so RR convertible, so that's off the table. I thought of a 68-72 passenger car cutlass convertible (no 442). I could probably get two of those for the value of my RR. Ok, that might be an overstatement, but they look fairly priced. But now I'm leaning against that. Giving a lot of thought to 06-09 convertible mustang. Probably the 8 not a 6, and a 5 spd as well. Put in key and drive. Much easier with wife and 2 little ones that are still in car seats. I'll keep you posted.

I'm probably going to put the car on ebay soon. Somebody above mentioned less BS. I have to agree. I forgot how much it sucks dealing with people when negotiating anything valuable. Like everybody else I've sold a few cars here and I now realize I just don't have the patience for absurdities and BS artists.

Good luck selling your RR
I sold my first RR to help build my house
I know what that feels like
But, as with me, you will be able to buy a RR down the road, after the family is grown
Best wish's

Good luck Sam,

Did you consider Moparts? I don't know anyone who sold a car there but I have been happy buying and selling parts the site. Besides at least it's mostly Mopar guys so the idiot quotient should be smaller.

I didn't mean to imply that. I agree but I don't think it's a bad as Craigslist in my experience at least.

I don't think it matters where you list anything for sale, there are morons on both sides. On a RR site I get on, there was a topic about a steam engine whistle listed on the bay. One of the posters had asked the seller if he had any proof that the item was what he said it was(fair question for a several thousand dollar item) the seller replied with a totally uncalled for tyraid.
I have listed stuff for sale in the newspaper, and on the net. You have to go thru some BS to sale things.
