OK, so we're almost home guys, just a few small issues. Maybe you guys have some insight:

Had entire dash redone, so it should all work.

1) fuel guage wasn't working, Gary made some adjustments so now it reads 1/4 tank with 10 gallons of fuel. I think it's a 19 gallon tank so clearly it's reading low. Do you think it's a float issue? Any thoughts?

2) per the guys that did the dash, the clock worked for 48 hours before they install it. Now it doesn't work. Also there is no clock adjustment knob. Where can I get one? Do these clocks work or am I asking too much?

3) the windshield wiper switch is supposed to have two speeds, apparently we only have one. Any thoughts? Again, the guys that rebuilt said it all worked when it left their shop and they are being nice and are willing to fix if I sent it back. Pain in the ass.

4) Gary said that there is a vibration at 40 mph and above. Wheels were balanced when we had new tires put on the Cragars, so we'll try another balance. BUT, we used the original driveshaft and axles. Could they be causing the vibration? Any way to tell to isolate this problem?

5) had to order a new reverse light switch for A833 so reverse light on dash and bumper work. I would have thought an $1,100 tranny rebuild would have included that, but . . .

So, the last 10 yards are proving to be the longest. Gary is a trooper, he keeps plugging away at her to make her perfect. Cheers to him.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks,

John

The fuel gauge is an ongoing topic on here, pull the sending unit and bend the float down. It may take a couple of adjustments to get it close and don't expect perfect. The clocks were pretty bad but 48 hours? My brother fought a vibration like that until I suggested getting rid of the fluid damper on the engine, just a thought

Can't help you with the adjustment knob, but the clock works from a clock spring. Every couple minutes, the clock rewinds itself. If for some reason, the the battery gets low, the clock will sometimes not rewind correctly or worse yet, the electrical contacts in the rewind get burnt.

Try unhooking the battery and hooking it back up. Sometimes the clock will restart.

If you want, there should be a quartz conversion for the clock. Remove the guts, reusing the face and hands. Loses that little clock rewind sound that some of us like... kinda like the real Chrysler starter sound.

No doubt it is, LOL. The guys that restored the dash are sending me another wiper switch free of charge, The clock is another story, I guess I'll have to live with it not working. There are worse things I suppose.

Drive shaft need balanced or maybe a bad u-joint to fix vibration ?

One of the first things that had to be fixed on mine was a u-joint causing vibration over 50. I pretty much figured that the wheels were O.K. because the steering wheel was not wobbling from side to side.

I wasn't aware that a driveshaft could be balanced. That may very well be it. Thank you.

They have weights attached from the factory...sometimes they get slung off...or the DS gets otherwise damaged and knocked out of balance...

Make sure that the pilot bushing in the rear of the crankshaft isn't worn- a worn one will cause a vibration over 40mph.

One more thing to check are the transmission mount bolts. If they are loose or too long which will cause them to feel tight you will get a vibration.
