That's what I call them that bolt to the exhaust manifolds over #6&8 and #7 plugs.
This is on my 383.

Are they suppose to be bare steel or painted engine color?

All painted... To my knowledge, the only thing that was not painted on the basic long-block assy was the dipstick tube. The fuel pump, heat shields, wire seperators, exhaust manifolds, negative cable, negative ground strap, pcv valve, bellhousing, and I'm pretty sure the oil & temp sending units (I'll have to check on those) all got sprayed...

Of course, someone else may want to chime in on this.... :thumbsup:
