A few thoughts…
We had our quarterly company meeting last night. On the list of things covered, medical insurance and how the new health care reform bill affects it.
They didn’t go into specifics but said that companies and top earners would foot the bill in increased taxes.
The rest of the message was vague but seemed to indicate our out of pocket premiums will be going up the first of the year, which is what I expected anyway.
Could it be that anyone earning a pay check foots the bill; the company just passes increasing expense down to the working class?
I remembered back to a time recently when the Pres was selling health care reform, almost as though it was yesterday. In words of his own, He said it would be funded by fixing excesses and shortcomings of the current health care system.
Apparently, what the Pres meant is that the excesses and shortcomings of my pay check is what would be funding health care reform.
Real world experience would seem to indicate that class warfare is a good tactic for getting people to vote for you, but nothing really positive comes from it. Who knew that things really do trickle down to the bottom?
And while my political voting history going back two years hasn’t met any expectations of mine, perhaps the mid terms will… It’s always worth trying…
