It is to help air flow through the rad. It goes between the bumper and the rad support. All 68-69 b bodies had them, but almost always left off once removed.

I got one from Amd and it fit great. I can't really say how much it's helped the cooling though.

I have heard some people call them "dust shields" but, better cooling would make sense. My car has one and a shroud and still runs a little hot. Time to ship the radiator off to Wausau, Wi for a recore when I can afford it...

My car has one- it also protects your rad from stones etc. when you go off-roading.

Suddenly I had a vision of Bob flying over the top of a hill in The Other Woman...

He should be back from the volcanoes today - we'll have to ask him how the old girl performed out there on the rocks... :lmao:

OK, so I ordered a repop from Year One (AMD part).

Can anybody tell me or show a pic of the original fasteners used to install this part?
According to my parts book, it uses a screw and a nut with attached washer.
Hex head? 1/4"?

I am playing hookie from work tomorrow adjusting the clutch and running the fuel line from the rail to the pump.

The car will be up on the rack so no problem taking some pictures for you. I am not real sure if I got on the "correct" bandwagon down there with the bolts but if they look original I'll pull some and show them as well. The unit is original but I think I have a stainless 1/4 bolt or two.

Send me your e-mail on a PM and I'll send them to you normal size.

I might just get this thing running in time to see how the traction is in the snow! :snowball:

Like the good Cub fan I am there is always next year.

Ok, it isn't the most exciting news....but, now my car also has this part on it. I got the AMD part through Year One. It looks good and fits nicely. I can't speak about thickness since I don't have an original to compare.
