UGH! So last night I thought I was gonna start throwing things in my garage.
First, after having 4 new 215 70 14's mounted and balanced on magnum 500's I had, I learned that
there are fitment issues around the hub on the front wheels (with discs). Back to the tire shop with a set of 14x5.5 steelies I had, and paid to have the tires swapped. I didn't want to use the 14x4.5 that were on the Scamp - they seemed tiny but had no problem with fit.
So.....last night I learned that the right caliper was replaced and I have some contact/rubbing with the 14x5.5 steelies! I felt like I was gonna have an Incredible Hulk moment (think eyes turning green and that high pitched sound before he changes). Have ya been there? The urge to start destroying things. :brickwall:

I think I can grind off enough material from the caliper to make things kosher.
What do you guys think?

Is the caliper not the correct one? One interferes and one doesn't? If so, what's the root cause here?

The left caliper is a chrysler - maybe original? The right is rubbing ever so slightly. Seems to be aftermarket.
Do you think it would be alright to carefully grind off some material?

Yeah, I would think that there is plenty of material there to allow for some alteration - but keep in mind you're the one looking at it, not me - so use your best judgement.

I ordered a new set of rallys for my 69 'vert back in 05...I was trying to get it ready for Carlisle. Just finished a major engine compartment makeover as well as some careful body touchups...all that was missing was the rallys and redlines. The wheels & tires arrived with a week to spare. I mounted & balanced 'em, put 'em on the car...MAN she was beautiful! Drove up the driveway, KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.... Crap.... found the offset of the "new" wheels was off causing the inner lip weights to hit the very outermost end of the upper control arm as the wheel rotated.... Talk about one of those Hulk transformation moments where anything breakable is in danger of extinction... I'm with ya brutha! I sent 'em back & slapped on a set of Torque Thrusts and went to Carlisle... The car didn't look bad, but I really wanted the O.E. thing....oh well...

Tonight I return as David Banner........
Thanks for the input guys! I ground down just enough material from the caliper test fitting along the way, and no more rubbing.
