Took the bird up to a weekly cruise in last night in Barberton. Its about 30 miles one way from my place. Overall, things went well. No issues really. Cruising with the 3.91 gears is fun, especially with no carpet or headliner.

Had a few people look at the car with mostly positive comments. Had one guy tell me not to be a dick and put chrome wheels on it. Same guy decoded my vin and told me what wasn't correct. :blah: Yeah, no kidding you ass. Its a true RR, but that's where it stops. We just laughed when he finally walked away. During his little lecture I kindly explained that I didn't buy/build this car for originality or shows. This car is a pavement pounder, and always will be. I don't think he appreciated that, as he left shortly afterwards.

All in all, it was a good evening. No mechanical malfunctions, or anything else to spoil the night.

Thanks guys. The previous night we loaded up the kids and went for ice cream. The kids loved it, but not near as much as I did!

That's good news Steve! It's got to be satisfying after all the problems you had getting it back together. Except for those clowns you ran into. Yeah, there are times I'll see a car and not like what was done to it, but I know it's their car to do with as they please, whether it be the choice of wheels or the things they've added to it. And what do they care how the car is driven. I do more or less baby my cars, but that's not to say that the secondaries have rusted shut from non use!!!! :D

"Don't be a Dick, put chrome wheels on it" (Big, if that's not a new avaitar, I don't know whar is!) That's a first. I ran Freebird for several years without carpet and a headliner(never did get the headliner). I take it you got all your electrical gremlins chased away. and Steve, my green brother..........

Yeah this guy was "different " for sure. I should explain what this guy meant. He actually liked my black wheels and thought that chrome wheels would ruin it.

I have a headliner for it. I just need to find someone to install it, as I'm not touching that one. Yeah, most of the electrical gremlins have been resolved, for now....

Still have a few little things to attend to, but all in all, I'm happy.

headliners aren't that bad, but they can be a PIA to get all the wrinkles out. seen alot of show cars with wrinkles. Luckily mine haf new interior when I got it.
and don't ignore the issue... :red2: :D

Haha! I only took 3 pictures. Didn't get the time really, as we were only there for an hour. I'll have to resize them and get them on photo bucket tomorrow first.

I'm glad to hear you are back on the road with the Runner. I do, however, feel your pain. My old club Mighty Mopars of Orlando (MMO) would have a monthly cruise night either at Bob Evans resturant at Orlando Dodge. We had a guyy named Rick Mendez that would show up; I think he thought he was a VIN guru. He would also walk around critiquing the rest of the cars. Long story short everyone finally got together an asked him to leave because we was just tired of his BS. Our cars weren't re-built for his enjoyment they were for us to enjoy the way we saw fit. They were street cruiser not trailer queens like his car.

And obligatory pic of the better half looking quite happy to be here..... :D

She actually did get on my ass while we were there....Seems I didn't park in the middle of things, so there wasn't a large amount of people hanging around mine. She wasn't real happy about that. By the time we left though a fair amount of guys looked the car over and all had pretty positive comments. Im not really sure who was happier..... her, or me...

Gotta love the car porn!! Nice 68, body seems to be real straight. Some dog dishes would look pretty good on those wheels if you decide to keep blackk rims. Good set of Craigers or Keystone classics would set it off, any way she looks great!!

Thanks guys. I have a set of dog dishes, just haven't put them on again. Actually over the winter I want to paint the wheels gloss black. I do love Cragiers though.

The body is straight for sure. Or so I think anyways. And yes, I did write a bunch of cites this year..... lol The state puts out a certain amount of money for traffic enforcement. I've soaked up as much as I could. Still working it actually. 16 hr days tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Yeah, its been rough. Starting in April, about half of my time cards have had 100+ hours on it. The most was 130.75 hours.

Gotta pay to play I guess.
