Put the engine back in the car today but will wait till Monday when receive the Holley to start the engine.

Got the old parts from the machine shop. There were more then two lifters ground down to a half moon 1/8th short and one cam lobe ground down quite a ways and a couple of other lobes that showed abnormal wear.

The bearings were toast. For an engine that only had about 200 miles on it, the damage groves were very bad.

They said it looked like whoever built the engine last time must have decked the block with a belt sander. At least that what it looked like.

I hope to get it running before I leave for NJ. When I get back I'm putting it into a restoration shop for them to do the whole front end and convert the front brakes to disc.

Hopefully the engine and trans were repaired correctly so I can move on to finishing the car mechanically. Things like the gas tank, speedometer cable and get the bottom rear of the car cleaned. Then I can take off the bumpers and whatever else needs to be chromed and sent to be chromed while I'm waiting for paint.

Thanks for all the help,
Barry

That's good news Barry! Sounds like either that engine was not rebuilt despite what they said, or they didn't know what they were doing. At least now you know it's done right. Isn't it?!?!? :jester:
