Hey guys, I'm posting below the specs from the Edelbrock heads that I was thinking of using in my 383 rebuild. Not knowing what the numbers mean vs the stock heads makes me clueless as to whether this is worth the $1,400 investment or just having my stock heads machined?

Can you guys look at these numbers and let me know why the Edelbrock Performers are better (aspiration, horsepower, torque, etc.) I don't know what the numbers are of the stock heads and I think if it's explained to me that way, I'll get it.

Thanks, John.

The chambers are much better than stock. I haven't seen a stock 906 flow sheet in years, but I think OOTB the heads flow a little better all over the chart. More potential when ported than the stock heads, won't be a risk of cracking. Less weight on the front of the car.

Have you priced a refreshening of your heads yet?

No I haven't yet spoken to a shop about working the stock heads. I do like the aluminum Edelbrocks and I'm thinking it would cost at least $500 maybe more to machine stock heads, plus new springs, valves, etc. Seems the Edelbrocks for $1,400 a pair maybe the way to go. Just wanted to be sure that OOTB they are much better than stock. Don't want to spend $1,400 then have to get those machined.

Thanks,

John

Edelbrocks do require at least a check as the valve job they do is terrible and you will be redoing them if you take them out of the box and throw them on. I figure it will cost $1000 more to go with Edelbrock over a nicely rebuilt stock head.
