Haven't done anything constructive to Bambi in a while so I got motivated this week and sent my carbs off to get replated and reworked. Thought about going to Harms like Bob & Steve have done, but there is a guy on the LOH Playground that does the same stuff and he's a bit less expensive. He doesn't advertise - says he'd have too much work then - and is retired so this just keeps him busy. Very busy, based on what he told me.

I managed to cobble together a set with date codes that are good for the car and only a total of 17 days apart. I know some of you like this stuff so I'll share with you what I ended up with:

4391 - center - dated 1209.
4393 - front - dated 1219
4394 - rear - dated 1049

April 14 - May 1 date codes.

I'll post some before and after pics when I get them back. Maybe it'll get me kick-started on some of my other projects...

My freind rick has a few sets done by Bill Overcash and is very pleased with the results. Promax did mine and looked great.

Ray what's bambies born on date

Probably June 5th or 6th. K-Member is stamped 1559 - June 4th.
Those are some pretty good #s

I thought so too!

I'll bolt the carbs on; you can handle the rest of the car while you're on your "Extended Florida Vacation/Bambi Rotisserie Resto" visit next year... :basketcase:

Got the call yesterday. Everything is serviceable except the center carb throttle shaft. I knew that already, though. Some a$$hat cut the lever for the idle stop solenoid off... :toetap:

Still about $75 cheaper than Harms even with a new throttle shaft.

I'm kinda wondering how this is progressing, but I don't want to be a pest. Last update I had was about two weeks before Carlisle. Bill was sending everything out to be replated at that time.

I've been thinking about going ahead and putting my new engine together, which is why this is on my mind. I have a 16' X 16' room in my shop that is air conditioned so I could actually get out there and do something constructive without killing myself in this oppressive heat. Minus a few odds and ends I pretty much have everything for the engine...

I also want to build a run-in stand for this one. Rather than do initial fire-up after the car is painted I'd like to fire this one up on a stand. Another reason is I only have the outer springs on the heads for initial fire-up and cam break-in. Prefer not to have to perform inner spring installation over the fenders. I'd much prefer to have it operational and just roll it under the car and slap it in place.

Okay, I'm done rambling...

Are you doing a stock rebuild Ray or some mods/upgrades? Just curious.. :drive:

Marty, go to page five or six of this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=255&p=12375&hilit=wiseco+pistons#p12375

I've also had the 906s ported by John McGowan's buddy Jim Fitzpatrick (classracer on this site) over in Orlando. It was supposed to be mild superstock type of port job but he got a little carried away...

It will have a beefier bottom end and should breather easier than a stock A12, but with the Bob K camshaft it will still idle like a stocker. I'm going to run manifolds so externally it will be completely stock looking. Should be fun.

Yeah, amateurs

On another note, a run stand is a great thing. I built one for my friends engine shop and we run all motors before they go to the dyno. Its getting too expensive to go to the dyno and have to do maintenance and or fix stuff. Now we run it first on the stand then retorque, install proper springs, and fix any nuisances before. Then its off to the dyno for a good thrashing.

Ray what are those rated at 500cfm and 2 @ 250 ?

Center is 350 and outboards are 500.

I seem to recall seeing something on the LOH Playground some time ago that stated that the total CFM was actually around 1,180 or someting like that...but don't quote me on that...my memory isn't what it used to be... :D
