Who said you can't put lipstick on a pig?

As you guys remember, this thing was rough as rough can be. 114,000 Michigan miles rusted out the entire rear half of this car. She's come a long way to say the least.

I went to check out the paint job today. It's not bad for a garage paint job, and I couldn't beat the price.

The black hood stripes are being put on tomorrow morning. I can bring her home tomorrow night or Friday at the latest.

The paint has a few dust spots that I could see while the car was under the lights. It looked like there was a lot at first, but most of the dust was on the top of the paint and wipes right off.

There are a couple alignment issues I want worked out before I bring her home. The drivers side quarter extension is off by about 1/8 inch and very noticeable. I told my body guy I'd like it fixed. I hope he can do something with it.

The hood is what it is. There are some waves in the metal, but it was in horrible shape to begin with. He spent of a lot of time straightening it out, and I'm happy with where it is. The stripes should hide a bit of that too.

The deck lid was also in really bad shape to start with. It has some alignment issues. It may be as good as it's going to get.

Check her out....

This is the quarter extension that isn't aligned correctly. I'm sure he'll do his best to make it right.

It seems more Orange than Red to me. Maybe that will change when she's outside. I read that R4 is a tricky color. Orange in some light, Red in other light. It looks orange in person and red in pictures so far.

If it was R4 you'll be fine.

Just black out behind the grille. I used Dupont Hot Rod black on the hood. It was a perfect day and it went on so wrong. So we went over it with Marhyde Euro Black almost dry. It looks pretty good but not perfect.
:pot: :pot: :pot:

Check your electrical now and clean up all contacts. Slow down a bit.....I did not and I was not happy since I had to tear back into it. Ground Ground Ground.

Proof below I'm a ragtop red guy. The Firebird is the next project. (it became a shelf over the winter!)

Looks to be the right color for you to stretch it, add a third row of seats, put a bimini top on it, and go for a Monkeemobile theme... :lmao:

JK. Couldn't resist. And yes, I do know that the Monkeemobile(s) were Goats. :D

Here we come----walking down the street----- :stooges:

What color top you going with?

Sounds like a midwesterner above. So...What color top will you be using? That was for Steve.
He spells color colour!

It's about 11:30 over there so hopefully he's asleep.

Fluorescent (always have to look up that spelling!) lights are murderous on paint. That's why they are in the body shops.

It will look great once buffed and out in the sun.

The top is going to be black with a glass window.

I didn't get a new hood, it was one that's been in my garage for 30 years but wasn't originally on the car.
It had a ton on dents and when you slammed the hood closed the center would pop in and stick. It's all good now though.

UPS man just dropped off my front end rebuild kit and weatherstrip and seal kit.
