I took my Barracuda to a car show today in New Hampshire at the New England Dragway. It was a 325 mile round trip and the car ran great, and I got about 16.5 mpg on the trip. and I took a second place in a judged show. Here are a few pics. There were 2, 69 Roadrunners in the show and several more were racing.

"This one took first in B body Plymouth stock. It has a 440 in it."

Okay, am I just being too anal or is it really too much to ask for a "stock RR" of '69 vintage to have a 383 or a 426 in it unless it is an A12...???!!! :soap: :soap: :soap:

Maybe my car is still "B body Plymouth stock" if I put a roll cage, twin turbos, and a narrowed Dana in it...after all, it did already come with the 440...so I should be allowed some latitude elsewhere... :soap: :soap: :soap:

I agree with you guys. But two things, For some reason they allowed the owners to decide which class they were in, and it seem that just about every car that was there today had some kind of modification done to it. Either way, that car was one of the better ones there and deserved an award either way.

Uh-oh Ray I see a tube bender in your future! Or even a twin turbo 2000hp big block under that fiberglass hood! I think you might just be a closet turbo guy. :acme: Time to come out of the closet Ray! :lmao: :jester:

Roadcuda, Thanks for the pics that black Runner is  The miles you drive your car are inspiring, I drove the Bee 30 miles the other day and felt proud. I think even though you went 10xs the distance we may have spent equal time on the road!

I averaged around 65 on the trip and it took about 2 1/2 hrs for the approx.162 miles. I'll admit that I had some second thoughts. While the last long trip, about 90 miles, was mostly back roads with speeds around 50 mph and the car ran great, but I hadn't really had it on a run at sustained highway speeds for more then maybe 25 miles at a time. I guess I wasn't sure I wanted to push it hard that long, but I decided what the hell, take the chance and go with it, and it didn't let me down. And I got almost 17 mpg for the trip. Maybe I just wanted to see if it made this far OK, then maybe Carlisle, 300 miles, is within reach! After all the 60th anniversary of the Barracuda isn't all that far away!!! :drive:

Did you see the Red Runner make a pass?

Since the show was run by the Ct mopar club that I'm in, I helped with parking and other things most of the time so I didn't get to see a lot of the racing.

So...you were one of the clowns in the orange vests that said "turn here", "park there", AND "no, that row is full" despite the fact that the guys just pulling in to the venue can easily see considerably better parking spaces that are significantly closer to the entrance just ahead...WITH TONS OF EMPTY SPACES IN EACH ROW...
Nope, I've NEVER BEEN TO A CAR SHOW BEFORE IN MY LIFE... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

You get not only a pass but an attaboy if you were parking show cars...
I was referring to the clowns that direct parking for the spectators...sometimes they just aggravate the piss out of me...the Zephyrhills show that I go to every February & November is a good example; they do just exactly as I described. But there is usually a Deputy Sheriff nearby so you have to listen to the parking lot rocket scientists in order to avoid a come to jesus meeting with the nice officer... :D :toetap: :D
