I picked this up off of moparts
We need to move to pass this bill because the politicos want to tax and regulate us into extinction!! See below. From a member of our Mopar club in San Diego

Note: let’s keep on topic about the cars not the parties!

From the member
It is only because of the huge letter writing and phone response from the car enthusiast community that AB 1740 has gone as far as it has. We cannot afford to stop now.
The Senate fight is going to be tougher than the Assembly fight. There are fewer Senators than Assemblymen so each of their votes is very powerful. The Senate is much more “environmentally friendly” than the Assembly so they need to be persuaded it is in THEIR best interest to pass AB 1740 and any future auto hobby related bills.

I received a phone call from an associate who visited the offices of 5 of the key Senators on the Transportation Committee and you are not going to like what he has learned.

In speaking with Senator Christine Kehoe from the San Diego area she flat out said, "WE WANT YOUR CARS REGULATED, WE WANT A MILEAGE CAP ON YOUR CARS, WE WANT YOU TO HAVE TO PURCHASE A PERMIT TO DRIVE THEM AND WE WANT YOU TO TRAILER YOUR CARS TO AND FROM YOUR EVENTS."

When she was asked, “What about a guy that wants to drive the Route 66 to Chicago and back?’ Senator Kehoe’s response was, "THEY BETTER HAVE A TRAILER WAITING FOR THEM WHEN THEY RE-ENTER CALIFORNIA."

This is the mindset we are dealing with and it better make you mad enough to do something about it.

WE ALL MUST TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLL IN PRESERVING OUR HOBBY OR YOU WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE.

This is why it's so important to get this bill passed. We must show these legislators that we are a force to be reckoned with, and that we're not going to sit quietly while they regulate us into extinction.

So once again, we need everyone to check out the following list of Senators, contact the ones in the districts you live in, and let 'em know where you stand. Or contact them all if you'd like. Tell them you are in support of AB-1740 and you are asking for their yes vote. The Senate hearing is June 15th. Please pass this on to everyone you know...

Wow. Just one more reason I'm glad not to live in The People's Republic of California... Sorry Chris et al, I do not mean to offend anyone by that statement, but it is what it is...

You guys had better do your civic duty...and put a bug in someone's ear...

I've been reading the comments posted on the 'parts. If I read it correctly this thing could help the hobby, and I question if the comments were really made by the representative that was quoted. I agree that we need to stay on top of these things, but I suggest you read all the posts over there and see if it's really as bad as this sounds. Admittedly, I'm not always
the best at reading through the lines on these kinds of things.
