Hi Folks,
I purchased a set of back up lamp assys from Mike at BE&A... I was surprised to find out that the bullet connectors on the leads could be either male or female... He said that there was no rhyme or reason... He actually has to make them specific to the customer's car... I wanted to try and help shed some light on this for him, and was wondering if any of you get a chance could you take a look at yours and post your findings... It could be the wire harness vendor, plant, or SPD, but he did say the part catalogue listed the same PN for '69...It may be that the replacement lamps required splicing? I know this probably falls under nit-picky details, but thanks just the same!

I have four pairs of the lights and they all are female connectors.

Maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't you want a live wire to be female, to insulate it in case the connector comes apart and touches ground?

That was kinda my thought as well... so far all those I've talked to have female connectors on the leads coming from the lamps... apparently this is not the case for Chargers... or other models which could be either way... I took a closer look at my lamp leads...one is definitely terminated as a female from the factory... the one with a male terminal appeared to have been altered using an old school crimp style butt connector... it looks like it was done years ago, perhaps at a dealership...I'm thinking that the lamp assy was replaced, but the lead required modification based on application? Unfortunately my car is 3 hours away getting painted so I can't look at my trunk harness to confirm what type of connectors exist for the back-up lamps... Thanks for everyone's input!

I have a brand new rear harness from YO(M&H) and it has a male plug to go into the female plug from the backup lights.
