i am currently using a set of ductile iron adjustable rockers and have a question. looking at the adjusting bolt, how much of the thread would you like to see on both sides of the rocker arm? ideally should it be equal amounts top and bottom? it just seems to me that there is not enough of the thread showing at the bottom and i might have to order a different length pushrord to get there.

there has to be something in the books for the amount of threads.....the hemi has a measurement but can remember it at this moment......reason.....oil lube for the ball and socket....call up whoever made your rockers......they should know

I took an old pushrod and cut it in two. Then I threaded it with 1/4 28 stud between the two halves and added a jam nut. I use this to measure the length and order the proper pushrod. Since Mopars use a shaft the geometry cant move so your in luck there. I dont worry about the amount of thread showing, however I do worry about interference through the rockers range of motion. Ideally if it clears now, even with very little clearance, it should clear forever. If it rubs in the future then you know something is wearing out or is bent. Like I said earlier I wouldn't worry about the amount of thread just for the sake of having equal amounts of thread showing.

thanks gents. there is another reason for the question. currently i have to make clearance with the baffles in the stock valve covers because the end of the adjusting bolt just touches it. i figured that if less threads are at that end it would take care of both issues. i want to make that measuring tool but don't have the extra pushrod of that style. when you measure a pushrod with a ball at one end and the cup at the other, it is measured to the bottom of the cup, correct?
