wow. what a job and probably all for naught. i hate spending money without getting results.

flushed my ac lines, condensor, and evaporator.

replaced the compressor, clutch, expansion valve, and dryer.

vacuumed system for hours.

oiled.

filled with two bottles of $16 refrigerant. didn't bother putting in more.

nothing. not a thing. air coming out of vents actually got hotter.

my brother, the ac mechanic in the family, says it looks like the compressor is bad.

ugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg!

now, i gotta take it out, hope i get a refund, replace it, and hope that the next one works.

anyone ever have the same fun experience? is there a secret little switch on the compressor that i forgot to flip on? LOL!!

$300 and I would've been better off sticking my head out of the window like my dog.

no expert here, but sometimes you have to jump the compressor to get the system started. i am sure that you know that the clutch is engaging. also, do you have a set of gauges?

I worked for an HVAC guy for about a year. If you're not getting any cool air, you may need more refridgerant. you do need a set of gauges to check this.

have gauges. they show the pressure, but the freon is not getting sucked through the system.

clutch is engaging.

2 cans of freon.

jump the compressor? i am assuming that is if the compressor is not turning??????????????????

thx fo responding. i am really at a loss. i took the day off from the problem and may pull it tomorrow.

i have a little hope for the jumping thing....never heard of that.

did you draw a vacuum on the system before charging and also what is the system capacity? maybe 2 cans is not enough to produce the result you need. what type of refrigerant are you using R-12 or 134a?

vacuumed with overkill.

2 cans should have at least kept the air from getting hotter as the engine warmed up. it has about a 3 can capacity.

refrigerant is 134.

if the system held the vacuum and the gauges are showing that the compressor is doing its job, i would get all the refrigerant in the system. if the amount required is not present, you will not get results. :cents:
