906 head question

I have done a little reading on Mopar engine history, but I am not a guru by any means. On my 68 383HP, It has 906 heads, Has this been upgraded? Or was it possible to get the 906s in 68. Was just asking, for everything I have read pretty much says the 906 heads were only built in 67, right? And if the 906 heads are not original, how much HP was added just by adding these heads? (If everything else remained stock). Any suggestions would be apprecated, as maybe soon I will be getting around to building the 383. Are modern carbs the way to go? and if so, what carb do you guys suggest I go with to somewhat perform @ 7,000 ft elev? I know, maybe a joke. Thanks, J

My '68 383 has 906 heads from the factory.

The 915 heads were used up threw 67 they were the closed chamber head, in 68 the 906 came out with an open chamber but a larger exhaust valve. The trick at the time was to get a set of 915s to toss onto your 68-69 383 to up the compression http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/tech ... ewall.html
