This is not fun at all but here is my best effort at repairing the trunk gutter to rear quarter lip. The lip had to be cut off and a new on fashioned. Its about 12 hrs worth of work and im not totally pleased with it yet, but thats what body putty is for to make it pretty and hopefully it will all work out..

Thanks someone on forbbodies had mentioned the fact that I had to replace the gutter with my vin stamped on it, I was wondering, how yall felt about grafting the numbers back in, or should I just keep the gutter as wall art. Number matching car so, I haven't been able to make a decison on it one way or another.

IMHO you should put it back on the car. If you ever had to prove ownership to a DMV or LE beyond the regular dash vin and it wasn't there in the trunk, it might cause problems for you.

Six to one, half dozen to the other. Radiator support should also be stamped so I don't think you have any worries. But I would hang on to it if you don't reinstall...

Yea I thought it would be better to just keep it as a wall decoration, rather than someone say you are tampering by welding it in...when in the 80's restoring my 340 Duster I was young, I removed the VIN plate on the dash, Painted Dash and reaffixed it with screws way back then, now Ive been a cop a while and think how foolish that was, 37 years later I still havent put those Rosette studs back in there LOL

Being it was part of the car I would have put it back on with photos before and after.
