General Description

Ground up restoration. This car has to have every thing. Roof-floor pan-trunk pan- front door hinge pillar's- upper and lower cowl. door latch post. Full quarter's. Package tray. Dutchmans panel. Tail light buckets. Trunk gutters. Rear valance panel. Driver side inner upper outer frame. Rusted out in side arear where the sail panel's go. New inner fender. Replaced outer rear wheel well out side. New door's. And it went on and on. But now down to bolting it back together window's and all going in. Still have to look over the motor before installing it. Hope you like this and maybe the pic's will help in knowing what it is like. Now an A/C car and was not before.

Thanks guys for the comment's. Yes it is one of the biggest project's I have gotten into in year's. After five year's just want to get her done. It dose feel good to be finely be bolting part's back on the car. :thumbsup2:

Russ, anyone taking on that kind and size project has to have a love for these cars that is over the top. I thought I had a lot to do on my car and I did but nothing like what you have. Another thing is you done all the body work I did not. I really admire what you have done and hope you enjoy your car because you earned it. Your bud Big Mo.

That is one big project. I have a lot of respect for people like you who can stick it through a project like that. Makes me feel like I cheated by not putting the work in!:thumbsup: It's people like you who will keep our hobby going into the future!

Thanks PowerNut. I always wanted a runner so bought this one. Have always bought old equipment fixed it up and made money with them. Then figured I would build a runner. Save the money by buying one restored and do it my self. Boy what a job it turned out to be but almost to the end. Really like that black car it look's nice. It makes the trim and rim's pop. Have fun buddy with it.

That is amazing work. I too have a lot of work to do on my 68. I have to say if I found that much rust in a cart I'd move on. Most people don't have the proper frame jigs to get everything perfectly straight before welding it back together. I've bought many cars from people that thought they could fix it themselves. Most of the time I have to rip it all out and start over. I don't mind doing complete floor pans, one piece trunk floors, drops and fender wells or even full quarters.

Once you get into the roof, A and C pillars you better have something to keep it all in one place in every direction. Those cars aren't all that strong held in place on the jigs they built them on. Got to give it to you for taking it on. In Texas we just find a clean body (even a Satellite) and start from there. Rather have one that was hit than rusted.
You can't get to all the places the rust does after 50+ years. I bought a full trunk, both drops, quarter patch panels, L outer wheel house and tail light panel and I have over 2 grand in just sheet metal. You must be closer to 15-20k unless you own AMD. I'm surprised some of those unusual structural pieces are remanufactured. I'll bet its going to be a very nice looking car.

As soon as I get my shop completed, I'll start posting pictures of the rear area void of all the structure except frame rails and outer quarters. Mine was mostly rotted in the trunk drops and quarter bottoms. Trunk floor and taillight panel at the seams was also starting perforate (bad repair job in the 80s). Hate to see the two piece floors so I pulled it all out for a one piece floor. Getting them back on the road is what its all about. ;)

Russ, I don't know how I missed this. Wow that is a lot of work but there is something special about doing it yourself.
