    No it is a piece of galvanized sheet metal or sometimes it is aluminum but it is formed to where it lays on top of your intake along side of carb and bolts to your intake it keeps your fuel lines directly off your intake

    It doesn’t take up any room it lays in the crevasse of the intake and bolt to it cause if your fuel lays on the intake it will get too hot

    You may have to get a heat shield, that’s what I had to do for my 440, especially if you get caught in traffic, that fuel tends to get a little heated that shield helps a lot
