Got the oil pressure gauge yesterday, not too difficult to get bolt out and get it hooked up. I had already put in fresh oil and filter prior to this, though that didn't bring pressure back.
Anyway, had the oil pressure gauge resting on outside of windshield, keys in, fired it up, and GOT GREAT...
Hey guys - installed new oil filter, fired it up, still no pressure. Gauge doesn't move at all. Next step is get mechanical oil pressure gauge, want to make sure I have the correct place to hook it up, please see attached photo. Appreciate it if you could let me know if I've got the right bolt...
Don't see if you bought it or not, but looks like four bolt-ons can boost a 383 up about 100 horse. Hot Rod did an article on it years back. So 425 or so ini that car would be not too bad in my view.
Was idling 1970 RR in garage and it was cold and stalled out. Which is typical until it's warmed up. Fired up again, and watched dash oil pressure go up to 30 or so, then needle just slowly fell back to nothing. Shut it down.
Next day, fired it up everything normal. Warmed it up. Started...
OK thanks for that tip QuikBird will check that out. Just tried revving motor and (fortunately) the lights are rock solid, they don't brighten or dim with the revs at all.
As far as voltage reg, here's what I got, don't know if factory or after.
Yes, test was at idle, I walked around car in dark. I'll check the voltage regulator, not sure on that. I don't think they get brighter with revving, but I'll start it tonight and see.
BTW I love the see through hood effect on you photo.
It's like all the lights are just not quite as bright as they should be. Dash, dome, interior, parking, headlights, all just kinda should be brighter I think. They look "tired". Where is the light switch connection, do you mean behind the dash itself?
Working to get this RR back on the road. Last night tested lights at night. Just about everything working which is great, but everything just kinda dim. Could this be a lighting ground wire that has lost good connection to frame? And, if so, where on the car its the lighting ground connected to...
As soon as I get some progress, which hasn't happened yet, I'll post some photos and a blow-by-blow. Hopefully within next 2 months things will start to move.
Let's see, first gonna get front buckets redone with stock covers and foam. Next I'm thinking new console cause this one is really worn, and would like a reconditioned dash. Ultimately a much higher quality paint job would be nice. The car is original Lime Light but not exactly a show stopper...
