Sounds like the amp gauge is grounding out. I would make sure that the neg battery terminal is removed when parking to prevent a melt down. Or even better, get a disconnect switch for the battery.

A lot of time if the window has been removed previously, they get butyl on the trim and makes it hard to pull off. A heat gun helps if that is the case.
To the best of my knowledge, all 69 b bodies had the stainless trim covering the drip rails. There are 4 pieces for each side. They are available as reproductions. I have heard they fit good as long as you don’t have a vinyl top.
I have seen a few Plymouth’s that were orange. All of them were very early production. It is possible that the factory painted a bunch of them by mistake because all of the Dodge Ram air units were orange. As a normal, the Plymouth’s were not painted.
