A little more done getting lines, you can see my expensive panel gap gage (a chunk of metal), shooting for 3/16". Door gap is done but I I have a little more work to do at the trunk lid/quarter/dutchman panel intersection.
C`mon it`s a six figure car if it was B3  "THIS CAR IS VERY ORIGINAL THROUGHOUT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE REPAINT TO FORMAL BLACK SEVERAL YEARS AGO – THIS WAS ORGINALLY A "B3" PETTY BLUE CAR. IF THIS CAR WERE REPAINTED TO THE ORIGINAL B3 PETTY BLUE IT WOULD UNDOUBTEDLY BE A SIX FIGURE...
Trying to fit the end cap but ended up having to pie cut along the top edge as there seemed to be too much material there, I wasn't thrilled about cutting it but it was the only way to make it right. I am happy with the lines and once it's all welded and metal finished it will be better than...
Factory doors and roof skin are still on it so it`s definitely the quarters that are off, the main issues seem to be a little extra length and the C-pillar/rear window channel. I am not super happy with the fit but at least we have these parts available, when I did my Barracuda I could only get...
Kind of confusing build IMO - Nascar style wheels and tires but injector stacks which are more a hot rod/race car/drag racing thing. As long the owner likes it that`s all that matters.
Quarter panel welding has begun! I'm still not 100% happy with the fit but I decided to just start welding and fit as I go. Trunk and door gaps are good, C-pillar is decent, problem areas are lower window channel and fit of end cap but I'll get them worked in. Once the drivers side is tacked all...
Same, black looks great for all of two minutes then it`s dusty/dirty again. That car should be put back to B3 anyway, someone painted the exterior black but did the trunk and engine flat black.
Ya, I still have my `73 400, four speed car I`d love to do but I think the `70 is my last major resto project so the `73 is for sale. I`d have a shop do the major work but I can`t afford that, hell I can barely afford to build these cars when I do ALL the labor myself!
Seems like it`s taking forever, I miss the days where I could work a full time job and still have the energy to work in my garage till 10-11pm every night, I`m retired now and can barely do 2-3 hours before I`m tired and aching all over!
I still have a bit of tweaking to do to be happy with the quarter panel fit but decided I just have to start the welding or it will never be done. I left the trunk lid on as my gaps were good before cutting it apart so that made it easier to get good lines again. I started welding the bottom...
I just used either All-Metal or Mar-Glass on my Barracuda but after many drag strip passes with no frame connectors I have a crack on the drivers side. I now have connectors welded in so will eventually have to grind it out and repair the area. I have seen where guys weld in a strip to fill in...
