`70 road runner - finally getting to the restoration!

Had to plug two holes and drill them with a 1" hole saw as they are not in the correct location for '70. Got the seat belt reinforcement brackets and cable bracket bead blasted and welded on.

    1969 hardtop with RM21 vin

Not technically a clone as that would be a Satellite with it`s original vin numbers made to look like a road runner, your car now looks to be a car that was rear clipped or a full re-body. If it were mine I would be sanding down the radiator support to see if that vin was welded in or maybe...

    1969 hardtop with RM21 vin

From the original post - "The vin number also matches on the core support, and the trunk drivers quarter."

    1969 hardtop with RM21 vin

With the green re-paint flaking off directly to the the lighter color I`d still lean towards it being a re-body not a factory screw up, it may have been years ago and been thru a few owners since. If it bothers you it wouldn`t be too much work to make it a post car again but if otherwise like...

    1969 hardtop with RM21 vin

I would contact the the previous owner and see if he may have any other owners information and also ask him if he did any of the resto work to it or has any info on it that could help solve the mystery. The only other thing you could do is remove the paint on the radiator support and trunk lip...

    1969 hardtop with RM21 vin

Are engine and/or transmission matching? Did you buy private sale or dealer? Any previous owner history?

    1969 hardtop with RM21 vin

There were a few other colors that it might be in those spots but I don`t think it would be a base/primer color. Here is a link to the colors offered - https://www.autocolorlibrary.com/pages/1969-Plymouth.html#parentHorizontalTab2 I would do some more digging under the dash and other areas for...

    1969 hardtop with RM21 vin

Being a fairly original car I wouldn`t think the vin was swapped along with the body numbers. It`s possible they could have changed it to a hardtop but could also just be a factory mistake.

Last Of The REAL Road Runners.

I guess he was referring to the "real" 1968-1975 road runners per their RM vin designation, the road runner became an option package on the Volare so don`t have the RM vin but either way they are still real.

Mine is "only" a 383 car as well. Love the seat covers!

`70 road runner - finally getting to the restoration!

Dropped in pretty nicely although not fun trying to get it in the door opening by myself. Just needs a little fine tuning with hammer and dolly and a little trimming along the edges to fit better then it's on to drilling lots of holes for plug welding. Of course I'll clean up and coat inside the...

    Hello, I'm new here.

`72 was the first year for electronic ignition but only for certain models/engines, in `73 electronic ignition was standard across the board.
