I measured the emblems in relation to the studs.
- The distance from the centerline of the stud to the edge of the letters "R" and "D" in road (RoaD), is exactly 3/16". That distance is the same for the "R" in runner (Runner), 3/16".
- The distance from the edge of the last letter "R" in runner...
No problem. I finally figured out your issue and that is going by the centerline of the holes do you no good since your don’t have the studs. I will get that info today.
I believe 68 man has the dimension from the beginning edge of the quarter to the first hole, something like 18-7/8”. I have the emblems off my car and can give you the dimension of the studs in relation to the leading edges of the emblems. That should give you what you need to place them properly.
I used the dimensions that '68 man had on page 1. Using his, it looked pretty good. I tried to find a surface level with that same line to double check as my car is on a dolly. The only one I could find was the lower horizontal surface of the door opening. Both side were right on with his...
Thanks. I already have new emblems with studs that I used on the previous panel. Won’t be hard now. I plan on using a countersink used on a mill to create a perfect place for the drill to start. Otherwise the drill bit alone would skip around. :(
I am so glad this thread came to being. I thought I had drilled holes for the RR emblem on the qtr panel, but didn’t. Before replacing the qtr panel with the OEM style, I had used a patch panel that didn’t work out well. THAT one was drilled!
Following the dimensions here, it looks pretty...
After looking around, these are probably Mopar Performance that came with the car when I bought it years ago. Just now getting around to refinishing it. Both parts are E coated semi gloss black and then the lid was sprayed orange, but only on top. The base had the deflector spot welded on the...
Thanks for the picture. Yes, it is a ‘70 440+6 air cleaner lid. The repro I have is orange on top and black on the underside and has a “Made in Canada” stamp in white along with a part number. The part number is #2946393 and could be correct. BTW the base has the same “Made in Canada” stamp and...
One final question. The lid and base I have are probably reproductions from a few years back. They have made in Canada on them. Did the originals have that?
Thanks!!!!
I bought these many years ago so I am not up to date on pricing. I do know there are two styles and 70s could have either. The early version uses a painted cast iron post and the later uses a hollow steel tube that is zinc plated. I had a ‘70 383 car that was earlier and had the cast iron post...
I bought my '70 RR mostly disassembled and some of the detail items are hard to figure out. Like the jack assembly in the trunk. Does anybody have a picture of how the jack is stored? I think I have all of the correct hardware, just need help to see how it goes together.
I have two bolts that...
Are the holes perpendicular to the vertical rear edge of the scoop (where it fits to the quarter)? Can't go by the front edge of the scoop because it is oddly shaped.
I replace the quarters and had to drill new holes but luckily had the old panel to go by. Still, it is nerve wracking. First there is the obvious issue of where it goes. Second is that it needs to be level but what do you go by as being level? Third is that the holes are only SLIGHTLY larger...
OK and thank you! My plan WAS to powder coat both the base and lid and just coat the top of the lid orange. The PC would have acted as a bullet proof primer for the orange. I am surprised they coated the underside orange. Darn. I was looking forward to duplicating the “overspray” look under the...
My question is if the air cleaner lid is painted orange on BOTH sides or just on the top from the factory? If just the top surface, I would assume the underside is semi gloss black like the base? BTW, I have the correct orange color.
Thanks.
