SAGA continues- TF A727 from hell

Is your A727 stock or did you make it a AUTO/MANUAL with the "TCI" kit. I guess one just changes the VB. I still can't understand why I get LOW line pressure with the VB that came with the TCI Street fighter trans and I get perfect line pressure with the STOCK VB I put in the transmission. The...

Best place for 727 transmission electric temperature gauge?

I just installed the temperature sending unit on the reverse servo port, 1/8" NPT. I did NOT like seeing the sending unit inside the servo cavity so I redid it using an extension so nothing would go past the casing. Just like the original plug. My gauge works great.

SAGA continues- TF A727 from hell

Well, still fighting this 1977 Chrysler A727 TCI Streetfighter auto/manual transmission. It worked great until I had T/C issues. First one sprung a leak at the weld. The second one had internal problems which caused trans fluid to burp out of the vent hole on cold starts- too much fluid drain...

    Revs too high?

For what it is worth...........mine is at approx 2,100 @ 60 MPH. Of course, I put 2:76 gears. If I recall, the 3:90 gears would give you your reading. Not much different than having the four speed manual. Hence, I made a highway cruiser by changing the ring/pinion to the highest possible...

    TF727 pump fluid repair sleeve

"At least you can still laugh, I would have put a 4 speed in it by now but that's me" LAUGH, how ABOUT "CRYING"................I swapped out the 4 speed for this 'monster'................... Rather have the MANUAL/AUTO option..........I guess I'm getting old...............LOL Well, story of my...

    TF727 pump fluid repair sleeve

UDATE- Well, this is getting to be the TRANS from HELL................LOL Going on TWO years since I had this "TCI" TF727 trans professionally installed......... A few days of being parked in my garage revealed that the TRANS had leaked fluid all over the garage under the transmission. Further...

    TF727 pump fluid repair sleeve

https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=_uYfcyRWvXI (turn up your speaker) Hopefully the work I just finished on the TF727 valve body will fix my DRAIN BACK issue once and for all. I purchased the shift kit that TCI uses on their 'street fighter' transmission (from them). I purchased the...

    TF727 pump fluid repair sleeve

This is the work I did LAST April ( YOUTUBE above). This time I kept the transmission jack and the wooden stands for the front of the car. HOPEFULLY I will NOT have to use them. What I meant is that I have NEVER taken a transmission apart and worked on one before. I have taken them out of a...

    TF727 pump fluid repair sleeve

I want to thank all of you for your input. Found out the repair SPEDI-SLEEVE goes on the "torque converter" hub and NOT the pump. There may be a special bushing out there that takes care of 'drain back' but I'm NOT sure. I did NOT have this 'drain back' with the first torque converter "TCI"...

    TF727 pump fluid repair sleeve

Thanks for the response. I will be delving into the VALVE BODY first. I purchased the same shift kit that came in the TCI 'street fighter'. I have a feeling the T/C drain back is due to something not right in the valve body. I also have the National 99187 speedi-sleeve for the pump in the...

    TF727 pump fluid repair sleeve

Has anyone installed a "fluid pump repair sleeve" to prevent the torque converter from draining back into the transmission? LG, Mike

    Trans. liquid leaking from 727.

_________________________________________ Hi, Confirming your ATF leak was constant while the motor was running?? My first convertor leaked when the motor was running and it turned out it was leaking at the weld. This is my second and replacement convertor. The leak is from the bell-housing...

TH727 fluid leak via overflow drain

Still tackling my fluid 'blowout' during cold starts after the car is parked overnight. Attached is a picture of my transmission dipstick. Can anyone, who owns a GIRLIE 727, tell me where on the scale does the FLUID rest on your transmission dipstick. The reading to be taken COLD, not...

TH727 fluid leak via overflow drain

The "TCI" trans. I purchased is the "Street Fighter". I assume this tranny has all the 'bells and whistles' done to it which includes a shift kit but I can not swear to that. It is a blast to manual shift it with the "Quick Silver" B & M shifter.

TH727 fluid leak via overflow drain

__________________________________________ I started the RR today after the car was inoperative for 3 days. I was surprised to see that it STILL leaks from the vent hole in the pump housing since I installed an extension for the filter and a deeper fluid oil pan. I think that if my issue is a...

    1969 RR air grabber

Great pictures and great information. One is NEVER too old to learn..............LOL I assume that the 500 is a blown out 440 motor. NOW, do you happen to know how much higher the RB motor is than the 383. I guess that if I had the stock intake on my 383. I would bet on the 440 base would...
