depends on a few factors not one fits all. is it stock or dose it have a different cam shaft ? stock exhaust or headers ? how mechanical are you ? as different carbs need different skills to maintain

There are reputable carburetor restorers that will make it like new and tune it on a test engine if you want to go that route. Otherwise a replacement and that will most likely need tuned, the be a 650 Edelbrock would be the closest in CFM to your Carter and I don't know if your air cleaner will fit and you would need to wire for an electric choke.

I have the Carter 4638 on my car and has been trouble free for the twenty years I've had the car. I have rebuilt it one time.

There is a lot of buzz about the AVS2 , I bought one and am happy with it.
First time I've ever had a choke that actually seems to work too. (Electric)
I'm resisting the urge to by another one for another car.
