When I took mine apart, I remember using a small screwdriver to spread the spring where the two ends meet and a vice grip on the stem of the spring pulling up on it. Came off pretty easily as I recall.

What's the deal with the stainless trim on doors and quarters? Was a dual snorkel air cleaner an option in 69?

Yeah old folks is right. I pulled my shoulder on Sunday. Probably lifting that damn floor jack into the car to push the rear window out. I hope I finish this project before my whole body gives out.
